Essentially, I came here to get the most comprehensive, full-spectrum FP training I could, to keep as many opportunities open as possible. This program had everything I was looking for, particularly a strong surgery and emergency medicine training. Most importantly, I felt comfortable in the hospital and with everyone with whom I spoke during my interview day. I walked out of the hospital at the end of the day and said, "This is the place. This is where I want to be."

I am grateful for matching at VCMC because it has far exceeded my expectations for a residency program right for me. I wanted an unopposed program that trained residents in full-spectrum FP. I have been trained for full-spectrum with high volume exposure by family practice and specialty attendings that not only excel in practice and knowledge but are gracious, enthusiastic, and supportive teachers. This makes VCMC unique to other unopposed programs with similar exposure. I plan to practice full-spectrum family medicine including obstetrics, likely in a rural setting."
