INPATIENT FACILITIES

Ventura County Medical Center and Santa Paula Hospital

Ventura County Medical Center is a full-service acute care hospital with a Level Two trauma center. Inpatient care is provided in the Intensive Care Unit and Direct Observation Unit, Telemetry, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Medical Surgery floors, the Pediatric wing, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, the Obstetrics/Gynecology floors, and the Hillmont Psychiatric Unit.

VCMC exists to provide access for under-served individuals who experience barriers to care. Commonly referred to as the "safety net" population, this group accounts for over three quarters of the care provided by VCMC. We provide the majority of the care that is received by this group in Ventura County.

VCMC staff physicians represent high levels of training and credentialing. Each physician on staff is board certified in their respective field, ensuring that members of the "safety net" population who are treated at VCMC receive excellent care.

Our Family Medicine Residency program improves access to health care in the county. When a patient's first physician encounter is with a Family Physician with broad spectrum training, the quality of care that the patient receives throughout the encounter will be maximized. Our residency program, associated with the UCLA School of Medicine, emphasizes high academic standards for both the residents and faculty. Our patients are the direct beneficiaries.

Hospital staff support resident training and recognizes the resident as the primary treating physician. The hospital culture engenders a collaborative approach to patient care and a pleasant work environment.
