Why VCMC: Because I know that VCMC will provide me the rigorous and well-rounded training I'll need to be the best physician possible, because that is what our most vulnerable and under-resourced communities deserve. It is also a program that I hope will help me develop the strong foundation that will allow me to continue learning throughout my career - you'll see below that my areas of interest span the gamut, so these four years will be just the beginning. Ventura also has amazing community organizations that I am excited to work with, because I want to learn about and help to create community- and policy-level change that extends beyond the healthcare realm (I'm a firm believer that all policy becomes health policy at the end of the day).
Things that matter to me: health equity (locally and globally), abolition medicine, disability justice, reproductive justice, LGBTQ care, community/political organizing. Generally speaking, the things that will help to create a world in which everyone can truly be healthy and well. This list isn't exhaustive, and I'm trying to learn more and get better everyday.
I enjoy/Hobbies & Interests: consume Seventeen content (that's a K-pop band I love, I am a *carat*), hang out with my friends/family/partner/cats, read, be outdoors in a non-exertional way, stand in the ocean getting pummeled by waves, karaoke (in my case, this means singing poorly), and dance (which I also do poorly).
